I'm trying to decipher the meaning behind having butterflies on the mind.

I woke up with a vague memory of dreaming about butterflies.  I hit snooze and while I was drifting in and out the dream kind of continued, which led me to think about this post by Ginger, although my head kept trying to rename it "The Diving Bell and the Butterfly" (which I've never read, nor have I seen the movie).

The last song on the radio when I finally quit snoozing and got up was "Bullet with Butterfly Wings." Okay, so the song itself says nothing about butterflies but the title does.

The first song coming through my headphones when I got on the T to go to work was Mraz's "Butterfly."

So now I'm pondering various butterfly metaphors.

Butterflies in the stomach? I don't know, maybe...

Chaos theory? I'm going to hope chaos isn't brewing on the horizon...

I can't think of what else. Anyone know any other possible meanings?

Hmmm...your dream has crossed over to reality with both songs playing, that is really crazy!

My online dream dictionary says:

To see a butterfly in your dream, denotes your need to settle down. Butterflies also signifies creativity, romance, joy and spirituality. You may be undergoing a transformation into a new way of thinking.

To see a beautiful colorful butterfly in your dream, denotes the positive impression you will make at a future social gathering.

My big bound dictionary says:

Symbol for Gemini, light-heartedness, and beauty. Can represent freedom, joy, flight of the spirit or flight of the soul; may be flightiness, instability, scattered energies, changeability, and superficiality; may portray metamorphosis - the ability to change and transform one's attitudes and ideas or change oneself from one way of being to another. May denote constantly changing, flitting from one thing or person to another.

You did say you were tired of being nomadic, maybe this is your brain's way of recognizing you feel that way about yourself? There are certainly a lot of changes going on in your life right now & literal flights coming up too. Anyway, enjoy the interpretation but don't hold me to it lol.

what jenn said....i've always thought of butterflies as being wispy and carefree and they represent change and transformation.

i think you need to look at all of these butterfly happenings and pay attention to how you feel about each one. do you feel anxious or relaxed? happy or frightened? that way you can at least know if the message is a warning to slow down and relax or just a happy "wink" from above to let you know you're on the right track. it does sound like there's something there for you.

goooood luck!
